Democracy or Representative Government
Writing in the BRB of SeptemberOctober 2015 Ira Katznelson’s position is that:
“Democracy no longer has rivals, but its capacity to be fair and make good policy faces pervasive skepticism.”
Is he right about this? Or is it rather, as Hélène Landemore, also writing in the BRB in response to Katznelson, says:
“that it is not democracy that is in crisis today but representative government.”
I would agree with Landemore.
